dSnake gain wrong if routed
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Qu-32 channels assigned to AB168 stagebox.
Recall scene, MSP has incorrect preamp gain values.
If I touch the setting in MSP, the mixer jumps to the new value.
The recalled values are unrelated to actual values for the stagebox or local channel, but they are consistent. When a given scene is recalled, I think it gets the same wrong value every time.

I don't have access to an AB168, only an AR2412, but I assume the gain values are the same for both?
Is it correct that the gain for the AB168 has a range from -5dB to +60dB?
If so I could not reproduce this issue so far. Let me know on how to do it :)

I don't think it's a range issue, because sometimes it's 3 dB off, and sometimes it's 20.
If I can figure out how to set it up, would Wireshark dumps help?
It's not just on scene recalls, it also happens when connecting, and when toggling an input from Local to DSnake,
so I should be able to send you the isolated message of an input toggle with the values.

Ah I might have an idea on how to reproduce it.
Can you try out one thing: Without the stagebox connected, switch the input source from local to dsnake and see if the gain values matches the mixer values.

I found it. The values assume 1:1 patching. I have my 16 stagebox channels patched in 9-24. Mixer ch9 is getting the value of mixer ch17, which is stagebox ch9.

Try patching your stagebox in other channels.

Will do, thanks for searching!

Sounds like you've had trouble reproducing.
I have my Qu16 and 32 both in studio for the next week, so I can spend some time testing.

I just reproduced on my Qu16 with this procedure.
Scenes/Reset Mix Settings to clear all. All ana & dig gains are now 28.
I/O Patch dSNAKE In, set channels 9-12 to 1-4, and 13-16 to 9-12.
Processing/Source, set 9-16 to dSNAKE.
Set dig gains on 9-12 all the way down to 5. This identifies them as non-default.
Set dig gain on 13 to 9, 14 to 10, 15 to 11, and 16 to 12. This identifies the stagebox channel by its gain.
Fire up MSP, connect, and open channel 9.
Instead of gain 5, I see gain 9, indicating that it's reading the value of stagebox 9 instead of the assigned stagebox 1.
Likewise 10 shows me 10, 11 shows me 11, and 12 shows me 12. Well, 13 actually, but Qu and MSP often disagree by 1 dB.

Thanks for the detailed description! I'll try to reproduce it later

I could reproduce this issue. It seems like the sync is wrong as the gain values are only wrong after connecting.
If the app stays open and you change the gains, the app does the right thing. Also routing changes are also not detected if the app stays open
